Nature inclusive working is a high priority at BoksheideBuiten, our ponies Navida & Floris are kept in a natural habitat with an eye for nature.
As much as possible, a habitat is created in which the ponies can display their natural behaviour and in which biodiversity is enhanced.
What does it mean?
The variety of vegetation that has given the grasslands a playful character with woodland edges, clever layout of the Paddock Paradise to encourage movement, horseshoe shapes for the ponies to walk in and gallop between, a sandy area, branch rills made of willow branches in loose shapes, herbs, mineral rock, a stone path, paved and grass paths for healthy hooves and robust shaded areas make it a unique experience.
Roses & Bottles.
The roses with their soft leaves, lovely fragrance and rich colours bring atmosphere and after flowering, the rose hips emerge, a bright orange to red fruit that emerges in autumn. The hips are full of vitamin C, antioxidants, Navida & Floris love them!
Manure.
The ponies lay down a big pile of manure about every two hours, which is spread by the trees and bushes. A closed system which has promoted growth & flowering and can now be seen very well a few years on.
More than a trend!
It links horse welfare with landscape management and the ponies have wonderful freedom. The alternation of quiet grazing in the pasture or romping in the Paddock Paradise makes it a real pleasure to sit down with them to read a book or observe how the ponies are interacting!
